Use to evaluate the cause of an isolated prolonged partial thromboplastin time (PTT) in a patient who is not currently bleeding.

Specimen Required

Patient Preparation

Do not draw from an arm with a heparin lock or heparinized catheter.

Collect

Light blue (sodium citrate).

Specimen Preparation

Transfer 2 mL plasma to an ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 1 mL)
Test is not performed at ARUP; separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Frozen.
